Wood Music Studio is dedicated to encouraging and cultivating a strong musical community in Round Rock, Texas. I offer private lessons in piano for students from preschool through adult. We welcome Homeschooling families, and offer a discount for AM lesson times!
I believe in keeping the joy in music education, and provide a supportive teaching style. Students start making music from the first lesson on! I host quarterly recitals, performances that offer a goal to work towards, and often stimulate mastery and confidence. We have a strong community focus, and many of my students end up being good friends as well.
I have been teaching piano now for twelve years. Before me, my grandmother was a Julliard graduate, a concert pianist with the Santa Barbara Symphony, and taught piano into her nineties! I started out, with her as my inspiration, as a young pianist in California playing with the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony and singing in many choruses on the west coast. I studied at the National High School Music Institute and later at the Indiana University School of Music. I took a few years off to get my BS in Physics, because I believe in a balanced education, then promptly returned to my first love: teaching piano, voice and music for young children at the Sunnyvale School of Music. My husband and I moved to Texas in 2008 after our first child was born, and I opened my own home piano studio. Since then, the studio has grown, I have directed children’s choirs here in Austin, led Summer Music Camps and was the music teacher at the Four Seasons Community School for the past four years.
There is nothing that gives me greater joy than to see a student develop a new love of music through piano. Katie Wood
